Rosacea Orange County
Say Goodbye to Redness and Visible Veins
If you’re living with rosacea, you know how difficult it can make your life. It’s not only the redness and flushing, the veins sprawling across your features, and the uneven texture of your skin. It’s the embarrassment, the looks from other people that make it so much harder to bear.
Laser therapy can help relieve these symptoms in a simple, one-step procedure. The laser passes harmlessly through your skin, targeting the abnormal veins responsible for these conditions. The heat causes them to coagulate and collapse, to be reabsorbed into your body. Your body will reroute blood to more appropriate channels, leaving you with clear, smooth skin.
The procedure is gentle and anesthesia is not needed. If desired, a topical numbing cream can be applied to your skin, but many patients tolerate it without quite well without anything. The sensation is similar to the snap of a rubber band.
After your treatment, there is no downtime. You can return to your daily routine without interruption. Simple aftercare will keep your skin healthy in between treatment sessions. While you may see some improvement after one session, a series of three or four treatments will obtain better results.
Types of Rosacea
Subtype one is known as erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR), which is associated with symptoms such as facial redness, flushing, and the appearance of blood vessels. Subtype two is referred to as papulopustular (acne) rosacea. This is associated with acne-like breakouts and can affect more middle-aged women than men. Subtype three is known as rhinophyma, a rare form of skin thickening on the nose. It mostly affects men and can be accompanied by other subtypes of rosacea. The fourth subtype is ocular rosacea, which exhibits symptoms mostly visible around the eye.
There is no cure for rosacea, but with laser therapy you can experience relief. To keep your symptoms at bay, we recommend coming in for a touch up session once a year. Laser therapy can also help with other conditions such as age spots and leg veins.
What Lifestyle Changes can be made to Help Manage Rosacea?
Since many patients experience rosacea flare-ups after performing a specific action or activity, it is recommended to avoid activities that may trigger it. By keeping an active measurement of triggers, it can be easier to manage behaviors and reduce rosacea symptoms. If you are outside, it is recommended to keep yourself tightly bundled up with a scarf to avoid excessive skin exposure to the cold, windy temperatures. If you use cleansers or skin care products, make sure they are hypoallergenic and do not irritate your skin. It is also recommended to refrain from using products containing alcohol.
